Mystery Mountain Children's ministry
9:50 am - 10:50 am Sunday Mornings (during the school year)

Children from age 3 to 6th grade at Heart of the Rockies go on an adventure each Sunday morning on Mystery Mountain - our exciting rotation-style Sunday School program. Children on Mystery Mountain have an opportunity to learn around 60 major Bible stories and concepts over a six-year program. Each week they attend a kid-friendly Ranger Station with other children in their class: an Art Ranger Station, Music, Games, Geography, Mission, Cooking, Science, Drama, Puppets and any other medium that helps to reveal the story. They experience the same Bible story in all the Ranger Stations for a four or five week rotation during which they visit each Ranger Station.

Children have lots of different ways to experience and learn the story. As an example, during our study of David the Shepherd Boy, children saw photographs of the Holy Land, ate food from the region, and heard about shepherds from a recent visitor to Palestine in the Culture Study Ranger Station. They made harps at the Music Ranger Station. The children created watercolor paintings and viewed paintings of David from master painters at the Art Ranger Station. A storyteller gathered all the children to hear about David's life using huge picture blocks stacked one on the other to the ceiling.

Our children get to hear about our faith, learn a lot and have a good time each week, but their favorite part of Mystery Mountain is the "Bubble Up/Bubble Down" time. During this time their class Guide, a familiar face who stays with the class throughout the school year, leads the children in sharing their high and low points from the week and encourages the children to pray together and for one another.

New "Backpackers" (age 3 to 6th grade) are always welcome on Mystery Mountain. Classes are free and we meet from 9:50 am to 10:50 am on Sunday mornings beginning September 14. The adventure starts from Base Camp in Room 1.
