SKYhill Update
Heart of the Rockies is collaborating with over thirteen child/youth-centered non-profits to build a "kids campus" on our property. The new nonprofit, SKYhill of Northern Colorado (SKY: Strengthening Children & Youth), will create a completely collaborative environment and develop resources to help child-centered non-profit organizations fulfill their missions.
Current partners exploring the project range from the Larimer County Boys & Girls Clubs to the Larimer County Child Advocacy Center. A board has been formed and a request for a feasibility study has been distributed. For more information, call Board President Kyle Henderson (970/631-8114). The exciting initial site plan, created by local architect Greg Fisher, is available for viewing at Heart of the Rockies.
Most recently, the board of the new SKYhill nonprofit adopted bylaws, applied for nonprofit status with the IRS, appointed committees and authorized a Request for Proposal to acquire a feasibility study on the project.
Trauma Training in Palestine
Janet Wright, a local mental health therapist and member of Heart of the Rockies, will travel to Palestine for two weeks in October, training mental health clinicians in the use of the mental health protocol (EMDR) that treats the systems of trauma. Janet will be leading workshops at the East Jerusalem YMCA Rehabilitation Program, just outside of Bethlehem, and at the Treatment Center for Victims of Torture in Ramalla.
