From our doorsteps to the ends of the earth, life is transformed in loving others.

Global Ministries

Through Global Ministries of the Christian Church and United Church of Christ, we commit ourselves to a shared life in Christ , to an ecumenical global sharing of resources, and to prophetic vision of a just and peaceful world.  We join in God’s concern for the poor and oppressed.  As a congregation we are connected through specific partnerships with international organizations, but work primarily through the Global Ministries of the Christian Church, and Week of Compassion.

Overseas Missions

Heart of the Rockies has supported many of our members and friends as volunteers – from youth building homes in Mexico and adults building a home with Habitat for Humanity in Jordan, to work in the Dominican Republic and in Palestine.

Our congregation is hosting an intergenerational mission to Mexico during spring break of 2009.  For more information, call the church office (970/223-1230).

Betty and Dale Schwicker were our congregation's first Mission Partners appointed by the Common Board of Global Ministries, a joint ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ. The Schwickers were called to four-year ministries at the YMCA's Rehabilitation Program in Beit Sahour, a village just outside of Bethlehem in the occupied territory of the West Bank in Palestine, but were evacuated at the start of the Second Intafada (uprising).

Two of our members continue to travel regularly to Palestine to train mental health therapists in a mental health protocol, EMDR, that treats the effects of trauma.  As a result of the work there, two Arab therapists at the East Jerusalem YMCA Rehabilitation Program, one a Muslim and the other a Christian, are becoming EMDR trainers and have taken the training to Jordan, where they offered training to Iraqi mental health therapists.
