From our doorsteps to the ends of the earth, life is transformed in loving others.

Laurel Elementary

Heart of the Rockies was one of founding Fort Collins faith communities that worked with the Poudre School District to create Faith Volunteers in Poudre Schools. Now in its fourth year, faith communities are assigned to work with a specific school. Heart of the Rockies is paired with Laurel Elementary School, where about a dozen volunteers provide services to the staff. Most of our volunteers are in the classroom working with children.

The kind of work we do mirrors that of other volunteers and is not an avenue for evangelism. Our motivation is simply to serve the kids in ways that are helpful to the teachers and administration of Laurel Elementary. In addition to classroom work, our congregation provides other services, such as preparing Christmas gifts for eight homeless children that attend Laurel.

For more information about the program, you may contact Kris Cord with the Poudre School District or talk with our church's coordinator, Pam Deal.
