Young and old alike share in the mystery and joy of God’s presence.
On December 26, our congregation began a Winter Sabbath. Together we are using the seven weeks—as individuals, households and a church family—to seek God’s gifts of Rest, Renewal & Delight. It’s an experiment for our church family. We’ll be sharing in worship, of course, but you won’t see as many persons serving on Sundays.
Truth is, the Church often runs feverishly to Christmas Day, lights a candle and exchanges presents, only to return to business as usual on January 1. We want to extend the time of our welcoming the Christ child into our world and into our lives—to create some space in which God can dwell more deeply within us.
By intentionally seeking Sabbath, we hope to deepen our experience of God’s love and presence, so that God’s Vision for our church family—“Loving God. Serving other. Changing lives.”—will increasingly become our way of life and a delight.
We’ve never tried this—a seven-week Sabbath. We expect to learn a lot. It’s not too late to join us.
