God is doing amazing things at the corner of Trilby and Lemay! It is heartwarming to see the reality of years of dreaming, planning, and constructing coming to conclusion. The CARE Community apartments at Heartside Hill are thriving. Two Habitat homes are occupied and two more foundations are set for homes to be transported in the next month. The first L’Arche home is having the finishing touches completed and is almost ready to begin residency. The Community Building is functioning and has proven an incredible property asset for the church and the community already. And our own church improvements inside and outside are mostly complete, providing a fresh, expanded worship and meeting space that we can enjoy for many years. This is all evidence of God’s work and the generosity of the Heart of the Rockies Christian Church community. We count it a joy to serve as the Finance Team for this congregation.
We are in our last few weeks of the “Give, Gather, Grow” Capital Campaign that was instrumental in financing the project that helped make this all happen. Almost $1 Million was raised over the past three years through this campaign, along with other resources that were made available for this project. We celebrate this incredibly successful campaign and are thrilled you all made this possible.
To fully fund this overall project, the church has assumed debt of $920,000 through the Disciples Church Extension Fund, which will need to be repaid over the coming 25 years. To fund this repayment, we will be having a series of two-year Building Fund campaigns to collect the roughly $90,000 annually that will be necessary to pay back these loans. Our first campaign will begin in May, 2026 and run through April, 2028, which we are calling “Paying Back; Praying Forward.” This is a replacement for the previous three-year “Give, Gather, Grow” Capital Campaign and for the annual Building Reserve Fund that we have received for the past 8 years. (It is in addition to our annual General Fund Stewardship Campaign that is held each fall that supports the operational ministries of the church.) We encourage each of you to consider what you can contribute, perhaps redirecting some of what you previously were giving for the capital campaign and/or the building reserve fund, and to complete an Estimate of Giving card for the new Building Fund Campaign. With these funds, we will be able to enjoy this holy space we have created for growth, enhanced ministry, community engagement, andspiritual nourishment for years to come. We will collect these Estimate of Giving Cards on May 3, 2026. An online form is available as well via the church website.
As possible, legacy and one-time gifts that can be used to pay off these loans even faster are a welcome addition to the regular giving. By paying off these loans earlier, we have the opportunity to substantially reduce the total we payback to Disciples Church Extension Fund over time.
