What began as a dream 25 years ago is now a reality. Heart of the Rockies donated 9 acres of vacant land to address a critical need for affordable and attainable housing in Fort Collins. Following an extensive discernment process, the church selected three nonprofit partners to join in a collaborative effort to develop the property — CARE Communities, Fort Collins Habitat for Humanity, and L’Arche Northern Colorado.
Together with our partners, we are creating a diverse, inclusive community for people to live and thrive on this property. The final development will include 72 apartments, 9 single family homes, and 2 shared homes for people with and without developmental disabilities. The entire community is anchored by a community center and enhanced by playgrounds, outdoor gathering spaces, walking paths, community gardens, and abundant open space.
